Fremantle Cemetery Chapels
Fremantle’s two chapels, the East Chapel and West Chapel, are designed in a bold modernist style with significant undercover areas to accommodate larger crowds. A small outdoor committal area is offered for smaller informal services.
Mourners can congregate at the main driveway and then follow the hearse to the chapels or, for those who would prefer, the hearse can be met at the chapel itself.
The Fremantle Chapel Facilities shows the approximate capacity of each chapel.
Multimedia screens are mounted in both chapels. Both have external screens to cater for particularly large crowds.
Large condolence lounges are located alongside each chapel.
If you would like to view any of the chapels, please contact our staff to arrange a time. Viewings are scheduled around existing funeral bookings.
The West Chapel and Condolence Lounge
The West Chapel is the largest of the three chapels at Fremantle Cemetery, accommodating up to 220 people seated and up to a further 250 people standing. It is a bright naturally lit chapel and provides a serene ambience for a committal service.

The East Chapel and Condolence Lounge
The East Chapel can accommodate up to 65 people seated and up to a further 75 people standing.
The East Chapel is also naturally lit and very suitable for smaller gatherings. A further 150 people can assemble under cover outside when the doors are open.
The East and West Chapels are both equipped with a sound system incorporating a CD player.

Outdoor Committal Area
The outdoor area is a popular choice during the summer months and provides an informal alternative to the traditional chapel environment.

Viewing Room
A viewing room is provided should families wish to remain with the casket and witness its committal to the cremator. Please advise your funeral director in advance should you wish to utilise the viewing room.
Food and Beverage
